GOD PROVIDES

BY Selena Granillo-Vera

In education, we all wish to have a facility where we learn and enjoy to being. Today we traveled to Boate and got to experience a different type of education. Education where God blessed them 2 years ago with computers filled with all the information they will need to succeed, without access to the internet connection and all the distractions associated with the internet. After 14 years of this school being open, last September the school was fortunate to get electricity providing them with circulating air and light.

As students in the USA we have so much in our hands and don’t realize others would wish to have all we have in a lifetime. I was very lucky to meet the teacher of level 1 students, a young girl 18 years of age who attends high school and teaches and class 1 students.

These kids were so sweet and very intelligent, this school has one of the highest percentages in their BECE exam (basic education certificate examination,) the exam that decides if they get to further their education or not. No matter the circumstances and conditions of the schools and homes you will still have the joy to see everyone running, playing, laughing. Throughout being here in Accra my favorite thing has been seeing so much joy in the kids and faculty of the schools.

This opportunity of learning a new culture is a great example of EPHESIANS 5:20. “Always give thanks to God the Father for everything, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ.” God has provided for them with what they need to survive. With what they will get them by. This school is fortunate to have a School bus that provides transportation for students to get to school with a long 30 minute drive ahead of them each day. The roads and conditions to this were very rough and in many ways can be dangerous and difficult to get to which is another reason it’s hard to get teachers to teach at this location.

John 7:37-39 Jesus said “Let anyone who is thirsty come to me and drink. Whoever believes in me, as Scripture has said, rivers of living water will flow from within them”. This school, Gateway of Hope, is a faithful respectful environment with so much knowledge to show and love to give. God has provided them with a well to get their water source, although they have to carry buckets back up to the school there is still so much gratitude carried across this facility.

Sterling College, Debi Frock and Jose Carrillo have given us/Me the great pleasure of experiencing these beautiful moments, sharing God’s word, and why we should be humble and grateful for what we have. God is good, and I thank Boate School for opening their doors to us, and letting us read and enjoy our time with their students and staff.
