God Does More than We can Think, Ask, or Imagine!!

On Saturday, July 29th  and Sunday, July 30th a group of dedicated Ghanaian teachers, a few head teachers, and administrators gathered at The Anglican Retreat Center for GMH’s annual teacher training. Men and women who have spent all week with students, and will spend all of next week with students, gathered to learn. The best teachers are those who are willing to sacrifice their time and talent for the sake of their students. That is true of those who joined us this weekend.

This year we had more participation than ever before. Forty seven participated this year, about ten more than what we’ve had in recent years. With the direction and help of Zach Neumann (via Zoom), public school administrator in the U.S., and me, 2 days of rich training was provided. We asked for a nice sized group. God does more than we can think. We asked for those eager to learn, those eager to grow as teachers, those who want to make a difference in the lives of their children.

Through Debi’s Rotary connection, God brought us a new teacher. Johanna Federwisch, former teacher and administrator, has always wanted to teach children in Africa. She brings experience and so much love for the children and Ghanaian teachers.

For the last two days, we engaged with each other, collaborated, and learned more about what it means to truly serve the children we are called to teach. Two days’ worth of sharing thoughts, sharing laughs, sharing concerns led to renewed energy, renewed hope, renewed commitment, that Ghana, and indeed the world can be changed one person at a time. We are Ghanaian Mothers’ Hope, and we are thankful that God has called us to do far more than we could ever think, ask, or imagine.
